Phantom Detective’ Remaster Mobile Review – Capcom’s Masterpiece Returns Again – TouchArcade

Tomorrow, Ghost Trick: Phantom Detective (The Remaster) (Free) took iOS and Android by storm worldwide after releasing on PC and consoles last year. Ghost Trick: Phantom Detective This is not the first time that this game has come to iOS. In fact, other than the original Nintendo DS release, the only way to play Ghost Trick: Phantom Detective Was officially on iOS. Read our review of the day here. That iOS version was removed this month to make room for a remaster simply titled Ghost Trick: Phantom Detective, I've loved this game for a long time and never miss a chance to recommend it, but there's a lot of ground to cover in this mobile version. How did it happen Ghost Trick: Phantom Detective old? Does it run well on modern iOS devices? Is it worth buying if you already have the original? I'm going to answer all of them in my review and, as always, also compare the mobile version with the Switch (read Shawn's review here) and Steam Deck.

If you haven't played Ghost Trick: Phantom Detective First, simply download the iOS version or demo on any platform. Stop reading this and do it. I promise it will be worth it. If you are still here, Ghost Trick: Phantom Detective is a puzzle adventure game by Capcom, directed and designed by Shu Takumi, best known for Ace Attorney Franchise. as the name suggests, Ghost Trick: Phantom Detective You are playing as a ghost (Sissel) with special powers. As Sissel, you can switch between the real world and the ghost world as you “move” and interact with certain objects to change specific outcomes and try to get to the bottom of his murder. can do. After a short introduction that not only lays the foundation of the story and also gives you a tutorial, the real game begins. Ghost Trick: Phantom Detective Its storyline is so good that you will definitely watch the story again after watching it with your new perspective.

I mentioned interacting with objects and the environment, and that's basically the gameplay. Ghost Trick: Phantom Detective, You solve puzzles with your ghostly tricks, go through telephone lines to find more victims you want to save, and much more. inserted into Ghost Trick: Phantom Detective is more legendary than Ace Attorney Wally, but I want to make a special mention of Missile and Lynn. More than a decade after its debut on DS and iOS, Ghost Trick: Phantom Detective It's timeless and a must-have if you love adventure games.

When it comes to this specific remaster, Ghost Trick: Phantom Detective It has high resolution visuals, a smooth frame rate across the board, and a gallery. The gallery contains both artwork and music that are unlocked as you progress in the main game. On console and PC, there was a pre-order or initial purchase bonus, and it looks like it's included on mobile and is available after purchasing the full game unlocked. This exclusive early purchase bonus is available on PC and console for $1.99 for those who missed the early purchase or pre-order period. It includes some songs and borders. If we talk about limitations, Ghost Trick: Phantom Detective The mobile has the same 16:9 aspect ratio and the game runs on the same old aspect ratio. The result is a mobile-specific border that includes a subtly animated design and different borders.

Another highlight of Ghost Trick: Phantom Detective There is a new 2023 arrangement option for the remastered soundtrack. If you're a fan of the original and want that music, it's available as a toggle in the game. said original soundtrack Ghost Trick: Phantom Detective Was always amazing, but I can't say how good the new version turned out. Thanks to this remaster, everything sounds better. In fact, if you haven't heard the original music since the DS days or since the original iOS version was released, the new remastered soundtrack will probably sound a lot like your good memories with the original. Yasumasa Kitagawa handled this remaster of Masakazu Sugimori's original score, and it is incredible.

When it comes to platform differences, Ghost Trick: Phantom Detective Based on last year's PC and console versions on iOS and Android. In fact, it basically feels like walking into a new wrapper to take into account the different aspect ratios on mobile. It basically feels the same as playing on the Switch or Steam deck outside of the aspect ratio/frame differences and load times. Load times on iOS are great and faster than the Switch. back when i used to play Ghost Trick: Phantom Detective Last year on Steam, Xbox, and Switch, the Switch version on the OLED model was my favorite way to experience games using touch controls. Now, I will say that the iOS version is better with the warning about limitations.

Although there's no need for it given the fantastic touch controls, controller support on iOS is simply non-existent right now. I tested it with my Xbox, PS5 and 8BitDo controllers and none of them worked in the game. Ghost Trick: Phantom Detective It has the same touch controls as the Switch version, with no changes to button sizes or anything. The touch controls worked as they should, but some buttons could have been larger or had better touch targets on smaller screens.

The biggest issue is the lack of cloud saves. Capcom's description even mentions that save data will be deleted if you delete the app. I couldn't find any way to sync my saves across devices and I basically had to play the game again on my iPad after playing the game on the iPhone. I've lost count how many times I've played in the early hours Ghost Trick: Phantom Detective So far on all platforms. If you're planning on getting the game on mobile, I would recommend sticking to the same platform for your main game.

Ghost Trick: Phantom Detective It costs $29.99 on PC and consoles. At first consideration many people scoffed at this price Ace Attorney Trilogy Three full games cost about the same, but I would say Ghost Trick: Phantom Detective It is more valuable. on iOS, Ghost Trick: Phantom Detective Allows you to sample the first two chapters for free. You can then basically use the single in app purchase to purchase the rest of the game. That purchase is now discounted to $19.99. I believe it will rise to $24.99 when the early buy period ends on April 3rd. This try before buy is especially a great system Ghost Trick: Phantom Detective Not only because all consoles and PC have a demo, but also because it lets existing owners of the older (now delisted) version download it and see what the visual upgrades and additional content offered beg for the upgrade. Is it worth the price paid or not? Check out the image below to see how the game looks on my iPhone 15 Pro compared to the older version on the same device.

I hope Capcom adds better border options that actually use full display on modern iOS devices, cloud save support, and possibly controller support in a future update. Those are my only complaints with this release. controller support is not really needed but since Ghost Trick: Phantom Detective There's controller and touch support on the Switch, why remove a feature for iOS? iCloud save support would be really nice as I usually like to play these games on both my iPhone and iPad. Borders are probably the most disappointing thing about this release. While 16:9 displays on consoles already had to deal with limitations, Capcom adding additional limitations on mobile instead of using larger versions of existing limitations is confusing.

If you already have the previous game and have finished it, I don't think this release is worth purchasing just for the extra content. if you want to play Ghost Trick: Phantom Detective For the first time on mobile, it's definitely worth your time and money. If you already have Ghost Trick: Phantom Detective On other platforms, nothing new here. if you love like me too Ghost Trick: Phantom Detective And you want to buy it to support the game on another platform, then you've probably already done that and don't need to read this review.

I love Ghost Trick: Phantom Detective far too much. I've bought every single version of it over the years, including multiple copies of the DS game. It was always a 5/5 game with its great story, characters, puzzles, and music, so it's unfortunate that this new version from Capcom is a little lacking when it comes to handling modern mobile screen sizes and the lack of clouds. Saves. I'm glad we have a version of this Ghost Trick: Phantom Detective On mobile that supports modern devices and operating systems, but Capcom should have done a little better in some areas.

Ghost Trick: Phantom Detective Remaster iOS Review Score: 4.5/5
