Proscenic T21 Smart Air Fryer review: Overview

Known for its fleet of robot vacuum cleaners, home appliance brand Proscenic has several air fryers available, including the T21 Smart Air Fryer.

Like other air fryers, this one works like a mini fan oven – there's a heating element and a fan inside that helps distribute heat faster.

Between the high temperatures and the drying effect of the fan, foods lightly coated in oil will become crispy, as if they have been fried. Since this process uses much less oil than deep-fat frying, the results can be much healthier.

t21 It has a capacity of 5.5L and can reach temperatures between 77C and 205C.

But what really sets it apart is its use of smart technology – you can link the machine to your phone via an app or via Alexa so you can control the cooking without having to sit in the kitchen.

The Proscenic has eight pre-set modes – fries, shrimp, pizza, chicken, fish, steak, cake and bacon – and each comes with its own specified cooking time and temperature.

You can use the buttons on the control panel to adjust both the temperature and time up and down (up to 60 minutes).

There are also three additional cooking functions: timing, preheat and keep warm.

The timing function is a delay timer, Preheat will turn on the heating element to 188C for five minutes, and Keep Warm will automatically turn on after any of the preset modes and keep the food warm at 77C for five minutes.

Is it easy to use?

Using the T21 is simple and intuitive – you simply put your food in the fry basket, select your preferred function and then press go.

The pre-set programs are guidelines only and you can easily adjust the temperature and time yourself, even in the middle of use.

Once you turn on the machine, the display will alternate between temperature and time remaining.

Some recipes recommend shaking the basket halfway, which is handy, as the machine automatically stops working when you take the basket out and starts again when you put it back in. .

I would recommend downloading the app. Once your phone or other device is connected, you can access the machine from another room if you want.

From your phone, you can turn on the machine, preheat it, select cooking functions, and adjust the time and temperature. And if you're not ready to eat yet, there's also a keep warm function.

When it comes to cleaning, the non-stick coating makes it easy to wash off stuck-on food. But because it's a basket, it may take a little time to clean between the holes and vents when hand-washing – although it is dishwasher safe.

Does it pass the taste test?

I tried a few different recipes on the Proscenic and used it to reheat things, cook from frozen, and cook from raw and got great results every time.

It is not as fast as a microwave but it is much faster than a conventional oven. And it's great for cooking or reheating things that get soggy in the microwave, like sausage rolls or pizza.

If you're just reheating things or cooking from frozen, I found it's best to keep the temperature lower for longer periods of time – otherwise, it can easily burn without cooking completely.

For cooking raw items, make sure you use the preheat function first for best results (you leave the basket empty at this stage) as this means that the food in the air fryer from the moment you start cooking The temperature will be accurate.

And don't leave anything crisp in the air fryer after cooking, as a well-sealed environment means water vapor will get trapped and leave your food soggy.

As far as making chips goes, I can attest to the 'crisp on the outside, fluffy on the inside' result – and there's a lot of scope for improvement.

Proscenic T21 Smart Air Fryer: Final Verdict

Proscenic T21 Smart Air Fryer It's a family-sized machine that can be used for everything from heating food to cooking. You can also use it to bake cakes: just make sure your container is oven-safe.

I thought it was easy to use and I love that you can control it from your phone.

It's not a small machine though, so make sure you have room in your cupboard to store it.
