Starbucks on fire! – health and Fitness

Olympic cyclist Dotsie Bosch, head of Switch4Good, led more than two dozen protesters outside an L.A. Starbucks, demanding that the company stop charging extra for plant-based milk. Starbucks claims, “We believe it is our responsibility to create a more sustainable, equitable and resilient future for coffee, our communities and our planet.” Yet, this company charges American customers extra to choose plant-based milk, which has a much lower emissions footprint than dairy! Additionally, Starbucks claims, “Our work to advance inclusion, diversity and equity at Starbucks has already led to important policies, programs and initiatives.” Yet, Starbucks charges extra for plant-based milk, even though a large percentage of the BIPOC community is lactose intolerant. In fact, according to the National Institutes of Health, “an average of 65% of the world's population is lactose intolerant. The prevalence of lactose intolerance is variable between different races. It is most common in African Americans, Hispanics/Latinos and Asians, and people of European descent. It is the least common in the United States.” Here is the NIH quote. – So, says Switch4Good, by charging extra for non-dairy milk, Starbucks is punishing people of color. Starbucks is invited to respond at any time. Or, the company could end up charging for plant-based milk!
